The Ministers for Foreign Affairs of Denmark and Latvia strongly condemn the continued detention of opposition and civil society representatives including several presidential candidates in Belarus. We strongly urge the Belarusian authorities to release all people detained on political grounds immediately. The ministers are also concerned by the continued repression of the right of freedom of expression and assembly as well as continued intimidation of civil society and independent media by the Belarusian authorities.
