Lithuania And Poland Are Strengthening Cooperation In Security

President Dalia Grybauskaite spoke on the phone with the President of Poland, Bronislaw Komorowski, the Presidential Palace office reported.

The Presidents discussed security situation in the region and further cooperation in this sphere.

The heads of state acknowledge that Russia’s actions in Ukraine and demonstration of military power in Kaliningrad pose threats to the security of the Baltic region and Poland. Therefore, immediate measures and concerted efforts are needed to strengthen regional security.

The Lithuanian and Polish leaders also exchanged views on closer cooperation in ensuring the energy and economic security of the two countries.

The Presidents underscored the United States’ contribution to ensuring the security of our countries. U.S. Vice President Joe Biden is coming to Poland today and to Lithuania tomorrow.
