“On March 11, 2024, Lithuania celebrated the 34th anniversary of its restored independence. In April 1990, 14 representatives of the Baltic communities, including BAFL members Angela Nelsas, Tony Mazeika and Mari-Ann Kelam met with President Bush at the White House to urge him to back the brave Lithuanian parliament’s vote to re-establish their independence. Here is their press conference outside of the White House with the message, “Independence is non-negotiable.””
