Estonia keeps falling in gender equality ranking

In last years Estonia has fallen in The Global Gender Gap 2008 ranking compiled by World Economic Forum and is far behind Latvia, Lithuania and Nordic countries, ERR News reports.
In 2006 Estonia had 28th position in the ranking and last year had 30th. This year Estonia has fallen to 37th place.
Genders are most equal in Norway, Finland, Sweden and Iceland, Latvia is on 10th and Lithuania on 23rd place among 130 countries.
Women’s participation in business and politics, health, mortality rate, pay level and possibility to get equal education with men were estimated when compiling the list.
Estonia has the worse position in pay differences, in which the state had 83rd position. According to the report women’s average pay is making only 62 pct of men’s average pay.
Estonia has 48th place in women participating in politics and in equal education level.
