Rice confirms support for establishing visa-free regime with Latvia

RIGA, June 15 (LETA) – United States (U.S.) Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice and the U.S. State Department supports the establishment of a visa-free regime with Latvia, Rice confirmed to Foreign Minister Artis Pabriks (People’s Party) during a meeting in Washington D.C. yesterday.

Pabriks told LETA that Rice and the U.S. State Department will try to convince the U.S. Congress to establish a visa-free regime with Latvia.

According to Pabriks, Rice also expressed support for Latvia’s attempts to establish good and pragmatic relation with Russia.

As reported, one of Latvia’s goals in relation to the United States is to achieve a visa-free regime.

On July 28, Latvia and the United States will mark the 85th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between both countries.
