U.S., NATO Intensify War Games Around Russia's Perimeter
Along with plans to base anti-ballistic missile facilities in Poland near Russia's border (a 35 mile distance) and in Bulgaria and Romania across the Black Sea from Russia, Washington and the self-styled global military bloc it leads, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, have arranged a series of military exercises on and near Russia's borders this year.

On March 10, Lithuania’s Minister of National Defence Rasa Jukneviciene will award reviewer of The Economist magazine and expert of Middle and Eastern European economy and policy Edward Lucas the National Defence System Medal of Merit for civilians on the 20th anniversary of Restoration of Independence Day. The award will be bestowed for the noted British reporter for personal contribution to strengthening Lithuania's national defence, informs BC Ministry of National Defence.

Commemoration of March 11 in Lithuania to be joined in by foreign visitors; Lukashenko will not participate
On March 11 this year, Lithuania will commemorate the 20th Anniversary of Restoration of Independence. Latvia's President Valdis Zatlers, Estonia's President Toomas Hendrik Ilves, Poland's President Lech Kaczynski, Finland's President Tarja Halonen, and Slovenia's President Danilo Turk plan to visit Vilnius on this occasion.

Why France Sold the Mistral Warships to Russia
It is now official, France will be the first NATO country to sell Russia Mistral-class amphibious assault ships.
